Giving Back: Results from Book Aid International
In
thanks for our donation of 750 books in November of last year, Book Aid
International recently sent us this progress report on their work:
- Our donation books were shipped to almost all of the 12 countries in which Book Aid works in sub-Saharan Africa. These are now proudly displayed on the shelves of school and community libraries where Book Aid modestly estimates each one will be read by at least five children.
- In 2010, Book Aid provided 341,734 books aimed at children and teenagers to partner organisations in 12 countries across sub-Saharan Africa and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
- From primary school libraries in Namibia to donkey-drawn mobile libraries in rural Zimbabwe, Book Aid's children's book provision programme served more than 2,000 libraries over the course of the year.
